In my past life, I never made anything for Valentine's Day. I was simply never moved to do so. But this year, so much in my life has changed -- for the better, that I decided, what the hell! Treat Yo Self, girl!
I decided to go with Simplicity 8870. I fell in love with all of the asymmetrical fabulousness this dress is offering me. Also, I'd like to introduce you to Zelouf Fabrics. I have a brand new collaboration with them and you'll be seeing all types of amazing fabric selections I'll be using. This one is Double Weave Heavy Laguna in Dazzling Cerise. It's basically a scuba knit. I love the way it looks, feels and sews.
I cut the size 16 bodice. I didn't make a full bust adjustment because of the significant amount of stretch. I lengthened the bodice in the front by one inch and left the back to account for the needed sway back adjustment. The pattern called for a zipper at the wrist on the sleeve. I felt that was such
For the skirt, I chopped off the floor length gown to a midi length. I made a full seat adjustment, because we don't do hiked up skirts in the back! I added a front slit opening to one of the princess seams.
I'm not longer waiting on that special occasion, I'm just making beautiful things. So, when the world is open again and it's time to travel and go to beautiful places, I'll be ready!
What a gorgeous color, looks great on you!
