McCall's 7726 - Paperbag Waist Shorts!
6:00 PM
I'm finally getting around to making the pattern that will probably be one of the best sellers of the year: McCall's 7726.
I made view A, the shorts. I've grown to love this high-waist style because it just works for me. I cut the size 14 at the waist grading to a 16 at the hip.
My fabric is Olive Medium Weight 100% Linen from Mood Fabrics.com.
Even though the instructions did not recommend, I used interfacing in the waist.
I interfaced the side front, front (along with the zipper area) and the back. I cut my interfacing ½" passed the fold lines.
My waist needs structure. These are high-waist and they need to hold everything in and not roll when I'm sitting.
Even though I would never think of pleated pants being a mainstay in my wheelhouse, I really like these.
I wasn't sure if I would and that's why I used leftover fabric. I'd previously made Mikaela a pair of view B in this same fabric. So, if had not liked these, I wouldn't have been torn up over it.
But I do love them. I absolutely adore them and I can't wait to make another pair.

DeleteI really like the top. I'm a woman of a certain age so I don't know if I'll be wearing shorts with heels any time soon. But YOU look marvelous!
ReplyDeleteI'm 1 yr and 5 months from my 50th birthday. I'm wearing shorts until these legs fall off! Thanks Nylse!

DeleteThe shorts look fabulous on you and are beautifully made. I smiled when I saw how well you finished the inside. I am WAY past an age of wearing shorts at 71 (but you keep doing it because you look great) but i truly love that blouse. Would you share the pattern company and number please if it is one you made? Gorgeous seaming.

DeleteThose shorts look positively stunning! I've ordered the pattern and I'm wondering if I should use some twill I have. Do you think that would work with this cut?
