All Black... Almost...

I love an all-black ensemble, especially in cocktail attire.  And if you really want me to be gleeful, make it separates that I can mix and match across my wardrobe board.
And for an evening out, why not add some drama and a play on texture.
This ruffle dip hem blouse is definitely serving its share of drama.  And very effectively at that!  I really thought that I was over high-low garments.  But this amazing top drew me back in.
To balance out the volume of the top, I went with a slim silhouette on the botton with my amazing guipure lace skirt, which is Vogue 8916.  Anytime I see lace like this, it always reminds me of Dolce & Gabbana.
And to accessorize, I wore a statement necklace and I mixed metals all the way through this look.  Lots of silver and gold.  And for that "pop of color", I went with magenta pumps.  I have to use color. It is indeed spring!

  2. A wonderful skirt, and a top peplum really beautiful. The wonderful shoes add a touch of brilliant color to the outfit.

  4. I love it, that necklace and the pop of color of the shoes, really makes this ensemble pop. The top is just simply gorgeous, remains of Audrey Hepburn chic.

When I saw the first picture, I thought 'nooooo' but when I kept reading and saw this is a fancy/cocktail outfit I said 'YESSSS!' This outfit is the perfect cocktail outfit -- plays by the rules (all black) but stands out in a dramatic way (that top!). And the contrast of the giant gathers with the lace...perfect. Thank you for sharing this outside the box look!

(Wishing there was a pattern for that top, though my itty bitty torso would never be able to handle it, hah.)

    1. I've seen a few patterns like this. It's the fabric that makes it billow. It feels like a duchesse satin. And I was also standing in wind gusts. Tornadoes were brewing that day. It's on the different side like Rosie Assoulin and Delpozo. Thanks Makingtheflame!
