I absolutely adore sweaters and pencil skirts. It's such a great way to quickly look pulled together and polished.
The sweater is from my closet. And the skirt is Vogue 8603. I originally made a denim pencil skirt from this pattern a few years ago.
When I bought this sweater knit fabric from Mood Fabrics.com, I had something else in mind for it. But as it turns out from time to time, an online fabric purchase is exactly what you thought it would be. I wanted to use the fabric for an actual sweater. But it felt too heavy for the pullover sweater that I had in mind. But nevertheless, I made it work into some entirely different. This paneled skirt.
I used the sweater knit and black ponteroma knit from my stash. I still added a zipper, but omitted the vent. Instead of this being a total loss and just another piece of fabric clogging up my stash, I "made it work". I think it was a great save and cool wardrobe addition for this fall.
Awesome skirt and like the pairing with a cable sweater.

DeleteI just pinned a panelled pencil skirt the other day, I thought it would be a great way to use up smaller bits of fabric. Yours looks great, it will work with so many tops.

DeleteHey Erica! I'm doing some Sunday blog reading so you'll see multiple comments from me today!! Anyway, I love the idea of the knit skirt! I saw a beautiful version in one of these mail order catalogs that randomly show it in my mailbox and I thought I'd make a super easy one-seam quicky version out of a heavy stretchy sweater knit. I was also thinking about making a version similar to yours with ponte and faux leather!Yes, m'ammm! lol Though I've never worked with faux leather before. That being said I love your version!
