So I've been looking at pants patterns, because I'm always out to find the next great pattern. I love the yellow pants I made, but that pattern took some tweaking. The fit through the thighs were not as fitted as I'd have liked. I wanted pants that were fitted through the hips, thighs and flared at the knee. And that's what I tried to achieve with the alterations I made to that Simplicity pattern.
I week ago, I was perusing Net-A-Porter.com (my FAVORITE site for retail inspiration) and saw these great Stella McCartney pants:
And I thought, "Wow, I need a pair of grey pants like these!" And then it clicked: I already have a pair! It's sad to forget what you in your own closet. SMH...
These are the famous Vogue 1051 pants that everyone that sews has pretty much made. I took a modicum of inspiration from the Net-A-Porter.com styling and added a bright sweater (I prefer v-necks), Ralph Lauren chocolate brown suede ankle boots and my cognac colored leather hobo from Steve Madden.
Lesson learned: I already had what I've been looking for. This goes for a TNT pants pattern and life!
Great outfit and great background...Railroad Park.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Indeed it is!
ReplyDeleteI really like these What I'm Wearing posts of yours. Perfect posts to see how you are making outfits in between your finished project posts.
ReplyDeleteI've been asked so many times whether or not I actually wear the clothes I make. Just wanted to show that I really do. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLoving those two colors together!
ReplyDeleteThanks... I'm loving them too.
ReplyDeleteLove this color combo...Looks perfect with the bag and the boots...
ReplyDeleteThanks Opal!
ReplyDeleteWell talk about shopping your own closet! These grey pants are great and I love the orange on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bri!
ReplyDeleteYes, just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying the 'what I'm wearing series too'. Also, thanks for sharing your style inspiration - it's very educational for my style-challenged sensibilities. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I have been really loving your style posts. Major inspiration for me in "sew" many ways. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice look on you! Your post reminded me that I need to make a new pair of gray pants since I've worn my last pair into the ground.
ReplyDeleteHow very "Wizard of Oz" to realize that what you were looking for was in your own backyard all the time!
ReplyDeleteI love your lesson learned. But I must admit that I just learned the opposite lesson. I just wrote all about it on my blog! lol You are so lucky to have been sewing for such a long time. I am sooooo jealous!
ReplyDeleteI always find forgotten things in my closet. Sometimes it's like a blackhole in there. LOL
ReplyDeleteI really love burnt orange right now--I'm making it go with everything! I can relate to the black hole ;). We just moved and I felt like it was Christmas all over again. Great to dig up treasures I'd forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorite autumnal colors. I have coating in that color. I hope to get around to using it!
ReplyDeleteJust perfect! And I'm right there with you when you say that you sometimes forget about what you have in your closet...
