Inspired by Pinterest: Denim shirt + Leopard skirt
3:30 PM
Once again, I've taken inspiration from one of my pins. I saw this picture and I knew I had to re-create this look:
It was a really simple look with a denim shirt and leopard print skirt. I used Vogue 8773, view A. I found the fabric at Hancock. It's a poly faux suede. I liked it because it has a nice texture and it has a slight amount of stretch. This skirt is unlined. I'm usually not a fan of unlined skirts or dresses, but this fabric was heavy enough for me to feel comfortable wearing.
I had to lengthen the skirt by 2 inches. And I cut 16, but it was so big at the waist that it was gaping in the back. And it was also a little boxy. I took in the waist and tapered it slightly. I didn't bother with the instructions... it's a princess seam pencil skirt
This is a great little pattern with endless fashion opportunities. I plan to make another one in basic black and not to mention the linen versions for Spring!

ReplyDeleteAnd as an aside I love your hair. i am a natural as well, but no matter how much I twist, wrap, condition or style my hair doesn't take on a texture or styling as well as yours seems to in pictures. Can't wait to see what you make next!
This is also a fave look of mine (I first saw it some time ago at Jessica Quirk's blog http://whatiwore.tumblr.com, and saved the picture as inspiration).
