As I was perusing the August issue of Elle magazine, I ran across a small article entitled, "NYC The Craft". It was all about the ongoing crochet craze and how it has reached "fever pitch" at Loopy Mango in NYC. Store owners Waejong Kim and Anna Pulvermakker have successfully contributed to the rebirth of "Granny Chic" with their wonderful handmade designs. Even if you don't reside in the big apple or you are like me and can create similar designs, their site is worth checking out if only for inspiration.

This is a tube top that looks great on. I designed this pattern myself (my first!). I had recently experimented with interlocking rings and thought that would look cute around the bottom. This was done in mercerized cotton by Coats and Clark.

This pattern was also adapted from "Hooked on Crochet". In the original, this was a pretty short dress. I decided to shorten it even more and wear it as a tunic. The pattern was extremely simple. For my yarn, I chose Lion Brand Homespun in Shaker #301. I wear this with jeans and capri pants.

This is a skirt that I did a couple of months ago. I found the pattern in Candi Jensen's - "Hooked on Crochet". It's done in 100% cotton. I used fabric and created a lining since this is an open pattern. This was truly an asset to my summer wardrobe and every time I wear it, I continuously receive compliments.
